<p>Heavy snow is expected to impact the Wyoming Valley tonight and into Thursday morning.</p><p>The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Luzerne and Lackawanna counties from 12 a.m. until 12 p.m. Thursday.</p><p>Snow is expected to overspread the region between midnight and 2 a.m. tonight. Snow could be heavy at times into Thursday morning, with snowfall rates of up to an inch per hour possible. The snow should diminish between 10 a.m. and noon Thursday.</p><p>Anywhere from 5 to 8 inches of snowfall could fall.</p><p>A winter storm warning meanings heavy snow is expected or occurring and will make travel very dangerous.</p><p><strong>The forecast</strong></p><p>The National Weather Service indicated it was 49 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, and fog and mist were reported.</p><p>Isolated showers are possible before 9 a.m. today. Mostly cloudy skies are expected otherwise, and the high will be near 48.</p><p>Snow is likely after 2 a.m. tonight, and the snow could be heavy at times. Up to 4 inches of snowfall could fall, and the low will be around 25.</p><p>Thursday will once again bring a high likelihood of snow before 10 a.m., with another 2 inches of snowfall possible. The high will be near 25.</p><p>Mostly cloudy skies are predicted for Thursday night, along with a chance of snow showers between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. Little or no snow accumulation is expected, but winds could gust as high as 21 miles per hour. The low will be around 16.</p><p>Partly sunny skies will round out the week on Friday, along with a slight chance of snow showers after 2 p.m. The high will be near 28.</p><p>Mostly cloudy skies will follow into Friday night, along with a chance of snow showers.
