Chance of snow, gusty winds predicted into the midweek

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Three are facing charges after fleeing from a crash early Saturday morning, according to police.</p><p>Police allege that one of the suspects was seen fleeing the scene with a handgun in his possession and another was found with heroin. Police also said the driver&#8217;s juvenile child was in the vehicle at the time of the alleged crash and pursuit.</p><p>Police said an officer on patrol saw two vehicles driving at a high rate of speed, and subsequently collide, in the area of South Franklin and West Ross streets at 4:06 a.m. Saturday.</p><p>Police allege one vehicle driven by Jennifer Hoffman, 32, of Bloomsburg, fled from the scene and was pursued by an officer to Market Street. Once stopped, police said James Cronk, 34, of Bloomsburg, fled from the vehicle with a pistol holstered on his hip.</p><p>Cronk was later captured by a backup officer. Police allegedly found a .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol with three loaded magazines nearby.</p><p>Another passenger in Hoffman&#8217;s vehicle, identified as Brian Roberts, 25, of Benton, was allegedly found in possession of seven bags of suspected heroin and five syringes.</p><p>Hoffman allegedly told police she fled from the scene because the second vehicle was chasing her, but police said the second vehicle was in front of her. Hoffman also claimed the second vehicle shot at her, but police said her claim was unable to be substantiated.</p><p>Police also found Hoffman&#8217;s 14-year-old child in the rear of her vehicle, and the child was released to the care of a family member.</p><p>Cronk faces charges of firearms not to be carried without a license, recklessly endangering another person, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a drug paraphernalia and flight to avoid apprehension.</p><p>Hoffman faces charges of fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, recklessly endangering another person, endangering the welfare of children, possession of a controlled substance and use or possession of drug paraphernalia.</p><p>A criminal docket for Roberts could not be found. Officials at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility also did not have his mugshot.</p><p>Hoffman and Roberts were each arraigned on their charges before District Judge Joseph Zola and are scheduled for preliminary hearings before District Judge Rick Cronauer at 10 a.m. on Feb. 21.</p><p>Hoffman and Roberts are each jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $5,000 bail.</p><style>
