<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; With properties for sale and no one to sell them, the city is turning to a professional for help.</p><p>It issued a Request for Proposals for the marketing and sale of its properties with a March 28 deadline to reply.</p><p>The city advertises its properties on its web site, but that&#8217;s not enough, said city Administrator Ted Wampole.</p><p>Without someone actively marketing them, the city is missing out on revenues and the RFP aims to address that, he said.</p><p>&#8220;I think we can do better by hiring somebody,&#8221; Wampole said Thursday.</p><p>The city&#8217;s 2017 budget contains a revenue line item of $50,000 from the sale of city-owned properties that includes the former Hotel Sterling site at the intersection of West Market and North River streets, Morgan B. Williams Field on North Wilkes-Barre Boulevard and the former Weaver School at 31 S. Hancock St.</p><p>The RFP that&#8217;s on the city&#8217;s web site spells out:</p><p>&#8226; What needs to be done - providing professional services, advice and technical assistance for marketing and possible sale of city properties.</p><p>&#8226; What&#8217;s needed from the respondent - name and address, qualifications, experience, a description of how the job will be done, key consultants/associates anticipated for the project.</p><p>&#8226; How long the contract will last - one year.</p><p>The RFP doesn&#8217;t ask the respondent to submit a fee, however. That&#8217;s negotiable after the qualifications and proposals are reviewed and it&#8217;s determined which is &#8220;the most advantageous&#8221; to the city. If the city can&#8217;t negotiate a deal with its first choice, it will go to the &#8220;next most advantageous&#8221; or use its discretion and issue another RFP.</p><style>
