Winter storm watch with heavy snow announced for Monday to Wednesday

<p>Two-hundredths of a second was the margin between second place and history.</p><p>Juwan Petties-Jackson pulled it off.</p><p>The Misericordia senior narrowly edged his closest competitor to win the national title in the 200-meter dash on Saturday at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships in Naperville, Ill.</p><p>With a time of 21.68 seconds, Petties-Jackson earned gold over Wisconsin-La Crosse&#8217;s Ross Denman, who finished in 21.70.</p><p class="x_MsoNormal">&#8220;Denman got off to a great start and Juwan went with him,&#8221; Misericordia coach Chris Wadas said in a school release. &#8220;He pulled ahead coming off the final turn and really held his form through the finish.&#8221;</p><p class="x_MsoNormal">After holding off Denman, Petties-Jackson had to wait for the second heat of the finals to finish to see if he had won the title.</p><p>His run set a new facility record and a new Misericordia record in the event. He shaved nearly three-tenths of a second off of his preliminary time of 21.94, which won his heat on Friday.</p><p>Also earning All-America status on Saturday was Cougars teammate Oniesha Clarke, who took third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.63, tying her own school record. A sophomore, Clarke is already a three-time All-American &#8212; twice indoors and once outdoors in the 100.</p><p>Those performances came on the heels of Reilly Wagner&#8217;s national runner-up performance in the pentathlon on Friday. Wagner took 12th in the high jump on Saturday.</p><p>Clarke and Wagner combined to earn 14 team points for Misericordia, which finished tied for 14th in the women&#8217;s standings at the national meet. Petties-Jackson&#8217;s 10 team points put the Cougars men in a tie for 20th.</p><p><strong>Korgeski an All-American</strong></p><p>King&#8217;s also had a standout performance at the NCAA meet as sophomore Jill Korgeski finished fifth in the shot put to become the school&#8217;s first track and field All-American.</p><p>Korgeski set a new school record with a throw of 46-4, which she accomplished on her third and final attempt of the preliminaries.</p><p>&#8220;It feels awesome,&#8221; Korgeski said in a school release. &#8220;I could not imagine it happening, but it&#8217;s so exciting that it did. It really hasn&#8217;t really sunk in yet. I was really thrilled to set a personal record on that throw.</p><p>&#8220;Going into the event I knew that I would have to have my best throw to have a chance, and I am lucky I did. I am so, so happy to be able represent King&#8217;s like this. All the coaches have done so much for me and with our program being so new I am proud to be able to help get King&#8217;s name out there.&#8221;</p><p><strong>BASEBALL</strong></p><p><strong>Monarchs earn split</strong></p><p>Shaking off a tough opening loss on the day, King&#8217;s rebounded to beat Gordon College 14-3 in the second game of a doubleheader in Lakeland, Fla., closing out the spring break trip.</p><p>The Monarchs dropped the first game 4-3 when Gordon hit a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the seventh to steal a win.</p><p>King&#8217;s responded with 11 hits in the second game for the victory. John Wickiser pitched a complete game, striking out seven, while former Hanover Area teammate Christian Pack finished the twinbill with four hits, three runs and an RBI.</p><p><strong>Misericordia 9,</strong></p><p><strong>SUNY Maritime 4</strong></p><p>Kenny Jarema had three hits and three RBI while reaching base five times as the Cougars closed out their spring break trip to Fort Pierce, Fla., with a victory.</p><p>Conor Smith added two hits and two RBI while Tim Burek struck out eight for the win.</p><style>
