Cabinet works on new record, readies for Susquehanna Breakdown in Scranton

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; City officials have announced they will utilize private contractors for snow removal in specific sections of the city.</p><p>Contracted snow removal of main roadways will begin around 7 p.m. and work through the night until snow begins to clear.</p><p>According to a news release, private contractors will be used for snow removal in the following streets and areas:</p><p>&#8226; Blackman Street from Twp. line to Carey Avenue</p><p>&#8226; Hazle Street From Blackman to Boulevard</p><p>&#8226; Carey Avenue from Township Line to Academy Street</p><p>&#8226; Hanover Street from South Main to Carey Avenue (hospital access)</p><p>&#8226; Northampton Street from Wilkes-Barre Township line to Wilkes-Barre Boulevard</p><p>&#8226; The Downtown area from North to South streets River street to the boulevard</p><p>&#8226; Scott Street from East Main Street to Mill streets</p><p>&#8226; George Avenue from Washington to Scott streets</p><p>&#8226; East Main Street from Washington to Scott streets</p><p>&#8226; Around Wilkes-Barre General Hospital</p><p>&#8226; Around Wilkes-Barre Fire Stations</p><p>Residents are urged to stay out of Downtown Wilkes-Barre and main thoroughfares so that the Department of Public Works can clear the way for emergency services.</p><p>Residents are advised to stay off the roads during the weather event, unless it is an absolute emergency.</p><p><ins>For more storm-related stories, please click <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/tag/stella" target="_blank">here</a>.</ins></p><style>
