Bucks County boy, 5, dies after being accidentally strangled by family dog

The Luzerne County Community College Diversity Council and Criminal Justice Department are sponsoring an educational series throughout the spring semester on the protection of human rights.A discussion on Syrian immigration will be presented by Anas Allouz 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., April 4, at the college&#8217;s Educational Conference Center.Allouz, a Syrian refugee who recently immigrated to the United States, will discuss his personal experience with the process of coming to America, as well as the struggles he and his family experienced in Syria.Dr. Ibrahim Almeky, a local physician as well as spokesperson for the Islamic Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania, will be accompanying Allouz.The program is free and open to the public.For more information, contact Judi Myers at LCCC at 570-740-0753 or 800-377-LCCC, extension 7753 or jmyers@luzerne.edu.
