<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; An Edwardsville mother accused of shaking her 5-month-old son to quiet his continuous cries was sentenced Friday to state prison.</p><p>Ashley Nichole Jackson, 26, of Beech Street, must serve two-and-a-half to five years after she <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/576691/no-contest-plea-for-edwardsville-mom-accused-of-shaking-baby" target="_blank">pleaded no contest </a>last summer to charges alleging she injured the infant&#8217;s head and broke his arm in February 2012.</p><p>Jackson told investigators she was at home with the baby when he would not stop crying. She lifted him up by his arms and &#8220;shook him with his head going back and forth,&#8221; but the child continued to cry, according to the affidavit.</p><p>Jackson admitted to police she &#8220;lost control and hurt her baby boy.&#8221;</p><p>She entered a no-contest plea in August to one count each of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of children. The no-contest plea is not an admission of guilt, but can be treated as such for sentencing purposes.</p><p>Luzerne County Judge Michael T. Vough prohibited Jackson from contact with the child without the approval of his adoptive parents. Jackson must also complete parenting classes and can have no unsupervised contact with minors, Vough ordered.</p><style>
