AG Shapiro warns of IRS tax scams

WILKES-BARRE — The Luzerne County Emergency Management Agency reminds municipal officials and non-profits to submit cleanup costs for the March 14 blizzard by Thursday to be eligible for possible reimbursement from the federal government.

County EMA Director Lucy Morgan said the county has to meet a threshold of $1.15 million.

“We encourage everyone to submit their costs, no matter how small, over the $3,100 minimum. Every dollar counts towards reaching our threshold,” Morgan said.

Luzerne’s total will go toward reaching the state’s $18.2 million threshold, she explained. The deadline to submit the county’s information to the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency is Friday.

If the state threshold is met, it will submit a Declaration Request to the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Morgan said paperwork can be sent by email to ema@luzernecounty.org, via fax to 570-820-4456 or dropped off at the EMA office, 185 Water St., Wilkes-Barre.
