Municipalities received more than $3 million in LSA grants

According to state Reps. Gerald Mullery, D-Newport Township, Eddie Day Pashinski, D-Wilkes-Barre, Tarah Toohil, R-Butler Township, and state Sen. John Yudichak, D-Plymouth Township, more than $5 million in gaming-revenue grants were announced Wednesday.Here are the recipients, how much they got, and how they will use the money:&#8226; Ashley, $25,000, complete renovations to the new municipal office&#8226; Bear Creek Village, $200,000, repairs to infrastructure&#8226; Black Creek Township, $60,000, purchase of a new dump truck&#8226; Butler Township, $460,000, relocation of the public works garage and upgrades to the state Fraternal Order of Police outdoor grove.&#8226; Dorrance Township, $79,000, park and playground upgrades&#8226; Edwardsville, $100,000, street paving and repairs for 13 streets&#8226; Fairview Township, $30,000, new police cruiser&#8226; Hanover Township, $990,000, Phase III of facility upgrades; a new press line for Medico Industries Inc., which will expand capabilities and capacity and create 10 new jobs; public works equipment, including a milling machine, a skid steer and a tandem dump truck for the Lower South Valley Council of Governments&#8226; Hazle Township, $273,825, a new vehicle for the Hazleton Blind Association to transport clients; work by the Greater Hazleton Joint Sewer Authority to separate storm and sanitary sewer lines&#8226; Hazleton, $544,415, streetscape improvements for six blocks of North Wyoming Street; streetscape Phase I project on Alter Street; preservation of City Hall&#8226; Hughestown, $100,000, relocation of sewer lines along Rock Street&#8226; Hunlock Township, $326,165, upgrade and renovate the Northwest Area School District track&#8226; Larksville, $300,000, repaving of Greenwave Boulevard between East State and Church streets, as well as installation of 15 handicapped ramps&#8226; Luzerne County Redevelopment Authority, $104,385, restoration of the dome and rotunda at the Luzerne County Courthouse&#8226; Nanticoke, $478,198, revitalizing the south side of East Main Street&#8226; Nescopeck, $25,585, purchase of a security camera system&#8226; Nuangola, $39,500, renovations to the Nuangola Lake pavilion&#8226; Pittston, $150,000, purchase of two police vehicles, an emergency services vehicle and expansion of the public works garage&#8226; Plymouth, $150,000, stormwater management project for Beverly Drive and Smith Row&#8226; Plymouth Township, $26,775, backhoe purchase&#8226; Pringle, $40,000, purchase a building for Swoyersville Ambulance Service to help reduce monthly expenses&#8226; Rice Township, $33,939, Ice Lakes dam retrofit project&#8226; Shickshinny, $143,000, renovation of buildings at 13-17 N.
