EDWARDSVILLE &#8212; Dollar General plans to purchase 323 Dollar Express stores, and the transaction is set to affect thousands of employees in 36 states, including some in Luzerne County.Dollar Express stores feature the Family Dollar name. Family Dollar was purchased by Dollar Tree in 2015, and some of those stores were sold to Sycamore Partners, the private equity firm that owns the Charlotte, N.C.-based Dollar Express to &#8220;avoid federal anti-trust concerns,&#8221; according to the Charlotte Observer.Ten employees at the Family Dollar location in the West Side Mall in Edwardsville will be affected, according to a posting from the state Department of Labor &amp; Industry WARN Notices. The layoff effective date is June 30. Employees at 19 other stores in Pennsylvania will also be affected end of June.Family Dollar also has locations in Exeter, Luzerne, Plains Township and two locations in Wilkes-Barre.<div class="metaInfo"><bylineMeta>Times Leader staff</bylineMeta></div>
