<p>HANOVER TWP. &#8212; The Northeastern Pennsylvania Industrial Resource Center&#8217;s (NEPIRC) President and CEO, Eric Joseph Esoda, has been invited to lead a discussion regarding the importance of manufacturing to America&#8217;s rural communities at the 2017 Industry Studies Association National Conference in Washington, D.C. in May.</p><p>Esoda&#8217;s authorship of NEPIRC&#8217;s &#8220;Manufacturing Fuels Rural Pennsylvania&#8221; and related &#8220;Industrial Resource Center Impact on Manufacturing in Rural Pennsylvania: 2009-2016&#8221; reports were the basis of his invitation to present at the event and will be the foundation for his discussion. Both reports chronicle Pennsylvania rural manufacturer challenges, opportunities and growth rates throughout both recessionary and post-recession periods and summarize the significant employment and economic development impacts of manufacturing throughout the Commonwealth&#8217;s non-urban communities. The later report analyzes the extent to which the Industrial Resource Centers of Pennsylvania assisted smaller rural manufacturers in creating over 13,000 new jobs over the past seven-year period.</p><p>The Industry Studies Association mission is to bring together experts from academic, industry, banking, economic development, governmental and other disciplines to share best practices and lessons learned in a way that influences national discussions and forges policy decisions that move communities and countries forward.</p><p>Esoda will join panelists from the Federal Reserve Bank, Washington and Lee University, Johns Hopkins University and University of California at Berkley for the discussion.</p><p>For other business stories, <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/category/business" target="_blank">click here</a>.</p><style>
