Circus comes to town for one last run of shows

<p>Former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins captain Dave Gove was found dead on Thursday in Pittsburgh of an apparent drug overdose, according to KDKA-TV.</p><p>Gove, 38, had ties to the Pittsburgh Penguins organization ever since he was acquired at the trade deadline during the 2007-08 season. He was a key contributor to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton&#8217;s playoff run that culminated with an appearance in the Calder Cup Finals that season, where they lost to Chicago in six games.</p><p>Gove registered five goals and 12 points in 23 games that postseason and became entrenched as a Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguin.</p><p>The following season, Gove returned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and was named captain, but an injury limited him to 20 games. He was asked by then-head coach Dan Bylsma to stay on as an assistant coach for the rest of the season.</p><p>At the start of the 2015-16 season, Gove was named assistant coach with Wheeling, joining head coach Clark Donatelli before he was promoted to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton later that season.</p><p>&#8220;He&#8217;s a leader out there. Real easy to talk to and the players really like him,&#8221; said Donatelli about Gove. &#8220;Very approachable. You can see right off the bat he&#8217;s really smart and knows the game.&#8221;</p><p>Gove took over as head coach of Wheeling after Donatelli left but took a personal leave of absence from the position in April 2016 and didn&#8217;t return.</p><style>
