Final environmental impact study on PennEast pipeline released

<p>Wilkes-Barre attorney David E. Schwager was named chair of the Disciplinary Board of the state Supreme Court effective April 1, the board announced Friday.</p><p>Schwager, a partner at the Chariton, Schwager &amp; Malak law firm and former Luzerne County prosecutor, served on the board since 2012, most recently as vice chair. He has practiced law for nearly 30 years, according to a news release.</p><p>In a statement, Schwager said he was humbled by the appointment.</p><p>&#8220;You realize what a tremendous responsibility the board, as an arm of our Supreme Court, has in protecting the public from unscrupulous attorneys and in preserving the integrity of the bar and of our legal system,&#8221; he said. &#8220;It is gratifying to serve on the board and work with some of the finest professionals in Pennsylvania.&#8221;</p><p>The board was created by the state Supreme Court to review conduct and assure attorneys comply with the Pennsylvania Rules of Professional Conduct. The board assists the Supreme Court in the licensing and discipline of attorneys in the state.
