Coughlin won its first game of the season in a thrilling five-set match with Dallas in boys volleyball action on Tuesday.Set scores were 17-25, 25-17, 25-13, 29-31, 15-7.Coughlin&#8217;s Kyle Williams finished with 12 kills, 13 assists, 13 service points, 10 digs and four aces, while Joe Gayton chipped in with two kills, four assists, 14 service points, eight aces and 15 digs. Derek Whitesell recorded five kills, three blocks, six assists, 11 service points, two aces and 10 digs in the win.Dallas&#8217; Corbin Thompson led the way with 15 kills, seven service points and three aces and Danny Harpersberger finished with 15 digs, eight service points, two aces and seven kills. At the plate, she was 2 for 3 with a triple and a three-run homer in the third inning.Nanticoke 11,Pittston Area 0Jenna Lipowski went 3 for 3 and drove in four runs and teammate Miranda Bohn pitched a four-hit, shutout in Nanticoke&#8217;s victory.Brinley Sobeck doubled and was 2 for 4 from the plate. Cassie Novakowski also doubled in the win.Crestwood 7, Coughlin 1The Comets used a five-run third inning to cruise past Coughlin.Haley Naperkowski went five innings, giving up one run and three hits and struck out five batters to earn the win.
