Kingston Township Composting Site openKINGSTON TWP. &#8212; The Kingston Township Composting Site, located at 225 E. Center St. in Shavertown, will open Monday, April 17. The facility&#8217;s hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Friday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. All times are dependent on the weather.Only township residents and property owners are permitted to use the facility. Residents who will have someone other than themselves dropping off yard waste must obtain a free annual permit to give the second party access the composting site.Commercial landscaping or grounds keeping contractors will not be allowed access to the facility.For more information, call the municipal offices at 570-696-3809 or visit www.kingstontownship.com.Spring Yard Waste and Bagged Leaf PickupKINGSTON TWP. &#8212; Kingston Township will hold the annual Spring Yard Waste and Bagged Leaf Pick up.Yard waste, consisting of bundled sticks and twigs extending no more than three feet in length and one foot in height and one foot wide. Residents are limited to two bundles. Bags should only contain leaves, not grass clippings.Yard waste should be placed curbside on April 18 through the 21 and April 24. Township crews will pick up debris between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., weather permitting.Residents are reminded raking leaves into gutters and storm drains as well as burning yard waste is a violation of township ordinances.Craft and flea market, vendor saleDALLAS &#8212; A craft and flea market and a vendor sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 22 at the Dallas Eastern Star Building Association, Foster Street. Participants will meet at 1 p.m. on April 23 at the Harveys Lake Beach Club Inc., 2048 Lakeside Drive (Pole 187), Harveys Lake.Participants must attend a brief meeting for instructions and safety guidelines. Gloves, trash bags, and safety vests will be distributed. Volunteers will break into groups, disperse to various locations around the lake to conduct a litter cleanup or take on a service project of their own.Volunteers under the age of 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
