<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A Sweet Valley man who admitted to killing his wife&#8217;s dogs pleaded guilty Thursday to charges he pointed a 9mm handgun at her following an argument a day earlier.</p><p>Steven Saxe, 38, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, possession of a firearm without a license and recklessly endangering another person. Judge Joseph Sklarosky Jr. accepted Saxe&#8217;s plea and permitted him to remain free on bail pending sentencing.</p><p>Saxe was charged with threatening his wife, Noelle Saxe, and members of her family with the weapon following an argument about another man on April 13, 2016, according to the affidavit. Steven Saxe rammed his wife&#8217;s car with his truck after she followed him from her parents&#8217; Fairmount Township home.</p><p>He allegedly pointed the gun at her and said, &#8220;(expletive), get out of the way.&#8221;</p><p>He was taken into custody without incident the next day.</p><p>Saxe was in court Thursday for sentencing on charges pertaining to his guilty plea to two misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty in February. In that case, he was charged with shooting two of his wife&#8217;s dogs the day after the incident involving the weapon.</p><p>Noelle Saxe told police she noticed blood stains on the sidewalk of her home upon returning to the residence April 14, 2016, the day after her husband&#8217;s arrest, according to the affidavit. She saw a pool of blood in a dirt area near the home&#8217;s entrance and later discovered the dogs&#8217; charred bodies in a fire pit.</p><p>Wayne Harvey, a veteran humane officer with the Luzerne County SPCA, called it one of the &#8220;worst cases&#8221; he&#8217;s seen in his career Thursday.</p><p>Steven Saxe admitted he shot the dogs, a hound mix named Lucky and a Shihtzu named Elmo, inside the home then attempted to burn their bodies, the affidavit states.</p><p>Sklarosky set sentencing on both cases for May 15.</p><p><ins>For more local crime stories, <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/crime" target="_blank">click here</a>.</ins></p><style>
