<p><em>It takes a lot of fuel to power through a 60-minute hockey game. Constant skating alone burns countless calories, and players have become increasingly attuned to what they eat as a major part of their daily training regiment. Hockey players are as particular about their meals as they are their sticks.</em></p><p><em>Ever wonder about what keeps a hockey player going during a long, grueling season? Each week we&#8217;ll take a look at what&#8217;s on a player&#8217;s plate after practice and before a game.</em></p><p><strong>Thomas Di Pauli</strong></p><p><strong>Forward</strong></p><p><strong>Caldaro, Italy</strong></p><p><strong>Pregame meal:</strong> &#8220;Three eggs for breakfast and chicken and a salad for lunch.&#8221;</p><p><strong>Preferred meal on non-game days:</strong> &#8220;Rainbow trout, venison or rabbit pie. I love wild game and fish.&#8221;</p><p><strong>Foods to avoid:</strong> &#8220;Nothing really. I like to eat food so if I eat something that isn&#8217;t the best I know I have to work extra hard to burn it off.&#8221;</p><p><strong>Cheat meal:</strong> &#8220;A burger at the Tombstone Inn in Lovelton.&#8221;</p><p><strong>Favorite meal from back home:</strong> &#8220;At home in Chicago I like steak. In Mexico, where I also spend time I like lobster and fish that I caught, either tuna or snapper. In Italy, where I was born, I like pizza. The dough, sauce and cheese, it&#8217;s all different there.&#8221;</p><style>
