Dispute over social media post leads to shooting at Pennsylvania Pepsi plant

<p>SCRANTON &#8212; A Kingston Township woman has admitted to stealing approximately $4,600 from the Dallas Post Office, the United States Attorney&#8217;s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced Tuesday.</p><p>Carol Sosik, 55, admitted to embezzling the money between June 2014 and May 2016, according to U.S. Attorney Bruce D. Brandler. Sosik was employed at the office as a distribution window clerk with responsibility for sales of postage stamps at the time.</p><p>Sosik could be sentenced to 10 years in prison. However, according to the release, the sentencing judge is required to consider a number of factors, including the nature, circumstances and seriousness of the offense; the history and characteristics of the defendant; and the need to punish the defendant, protect the public and provide for the defendant&#8217;s educational, vocational and medical needs.</p><p>For these reasons, the statutory maximum penalty is not an accurate indicator of the potential sentence for a specific defendant.</p><style>
