Geisinger offers land donation for W-B Area high school

<p>SCRANTON &#8212; The pool of prospective jurors in the capital case of Jessie Con-ui stands at nine after two more people were selected Wednesday, court records show.</p><p>Con-ui, 40, could face the death penalty if convicted of killing U.S. Corrections Officer Eric J. Williams.</p><p>Con-ui, who in 2008 was convicted of first-degree murder in Arizona, beat and stabbed Williams, 34, of Nanticoke, to death inside U.S. Penitentiary Canaan in Wayne County in 2013, prosecutors allege. The killing was reportedly caught on video.</p><p>Jurors 58 and 61 were pre-qualified Wednesday, court records show.</p><p>As of the conclusion of Wednesday&#8217;s screenings, a total of 22 prospective jurors were excused, according to records.</p><p>Attorneys will interview 12 people per day until 70 are selected to the pool.</p><p>The pool will then be reduced to 12 jurors and six alternates.</p><p>The process continues today.</p><p><a href="https://www.timesleader.com/uncategorized/653463/a-fallen-prison-guard-a-violent-inmate-what-to-know-as-the-con-ui-case-goes-to-trial" target="_blank">Click here for what to know as the case goes to trial</a>.</p><style>
