Travel advisory Sunday morning for Northeastern Extension of PA Turnpike

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; McCarthy Tire Service has purchased the commercial division of Sandone Tire in Scranton.</p><p>Sandone Tire&#8217;s truck tire sales and service operations will be merged into McCarthy Tire&#8217;s current commercial location in nearby Dickson City, according to a news release.</p><p>Eight employees will join McCarthy Tire Service.</p><p>&#8220;We are pleased to welcome Sandone Tire&#8217;s commercial customers into the McCarthy Tire family,&#8221; said John D. McCarthy Jr., president of McCarthy Tire Service. &#8220;This acquisition will expand our coverage in the northeastern and central Pennsylvania market area.&#8221;</p><p>The company&#8217;s retail stores were not part of the agreement. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.</p><p>McCarthy Tire Service, based in Wilkes-Barre, has been in business since 1926 and is the sixth largest independent commercial tire dealership in North America with 2016 commercial-related sales of $301 million. It is also ranked as the eighth largest independent retreader of light truck and medium duty truck tires, and one of the top 50 retail tire dealers in the country.</p><p>The Sandone family has been in the tire business for more than 50 years.</p><style>
