When it comes to international diplomacy, the U.S. president is charged with the responsibility to negotiate peaceful outcomes whenever possible. The Senate&#8217;s responsibility is to advise and consent.Forty-seven U.S. senators signed a letter to the leaders of Iran that basically said &#8220;do not trust the American president.&#8221; In other words, we don&#8217;t want a peaceful outcome in the nuclear talks with Iran. The alternative to peaceful outcomes is what exactly? What&#8217;s wrong with this letter? Perhaps I should ask, what&#8217;s not wrong with this letter?Ask our own Sen. Pat Toomey.
