Pittston Area School Board approves proposed final budget pending contract negotiations

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A Meyers High School teacher has been suspended with pay following a classroom incident, Wilkes-Barre Area School District Solicitor Ray Wendolowski confirmed Thursday.</p><p>&#8220;A Loudermill hearing will be scheduled,&#8221; Wendolowski said, referring to a legally required hearing before disciplinary action is taken.</p><p>Wendolowski declined to provide further information because it is a personnel issue, but sources told the Times Leader the teacher apparently threw something at a student.</p><p>It is the second time in as many months that Wendolowski confirmed a teacher suspension. In April. a Coughlin High School teacher working at the Mackin building, which houses grades nine and 10, was suspended without pay. Sources said that incident apparently involved locking a student in a closet.</p><p>That teacher waived a Loudermill hearing and was suspended without pay.
