<p>KINGSTON &#8212; Zach Anderson brought Crestwood back early in the fourth quarter and Matt Tirpak made sure the comeback did not go to waste.</p><p>Tirpak&#8217;s goal with during a man-advantage situation, 23 seconds into the second overtime Wednesday lifted the Comets to their second District 2 boys lacrosse title in three years, 11-10, over host Wyoming Seminary.</p><p>The Comets denied the Blue Knights from winning a district title in their first year after switching from a prep school schedule to strictly high school play as a Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association member in the sport.</p><p>Tirpak worked free behind the goal, waited for a pass from Anthony Capruscio, then stepped in front to get off a quick shot for the game-winner.</p><p>&#8220;They started shifting to the back side,&#8221; Tirpak said. &#8220;I saw I would have a little room to take a shot.&#8221;</p><p>After Reed Karaska got a piece of a Wyoming Seminary shot, sending it off the outside of the post early in the first overtime, Crestwood possessed the ball the rest of the way, patiently waiting for the chance to take advantage of consecutive Blue Knights penalties.</p><p>Crestwood coach Brian Zabroski praised his team&#8217;s patience and execution while playing the opposite of its usual fast-paced style.</p><p>&#8220;We wanted to make sure we took a good shot and didn&#8217;t let them have the ball back,&#8221; Tirpak said.</p><p>The victory was the third straight over a higher-seeded opponent in the district playoffs by the fifth-seeded Comets.</p><p>The Comets went from last in the five-team Division 1 of the Wyoming Valley Conference in the regular season to first place in the district tournament by beating two teams that finished ahead of them (Scranton Prep and Wyoming Seminary) and Division 2 champion Wyoming Area, all on the road.</p><p>Crestwood played from behind for most of the game.</p><p>Then, it jumped in front, 10-9, by scoring the first four goals of the fourth quarter, three by Anderson.</p><p>Zabroski said Anderson is a capable scorer, but usually spends more of his time getting transitions started or assisting goals by teammates.
