Wilkes-Barre police searching for missing teenage girl

<p>When I first considering running for Luzerne County Council, I needed to take a closer look at my roots and where I had come from.</p><p>Being a lifelong county resident, my journey began <ins>in the city of</ins> Wilkes-Barre in 1992. <ins>Growing up,</ins> I remember <ins>spending days in my childhood</ins> walking up the street to visit grandparents and spending warm summer days at the park with my friends.</p><p><ins>In the Heights section of Wilkes-Barre, the neighborhood children knew each other well.</ins> It was in these humble beginnings that I learned the importance of a tight-knit community.</p><p>Communities of people working together to make their neighborhoods a better place is exactly what I would promote as your Luzerne County councilman.</p><p><ins>In attending local resident association meetings,</ins> I can see the groundwork being laid to build a brighter future. I am encouraging all of our local communities to find local gathering points to discuss what can be done to make our streets safer as well as enacting change. I would like to interact firsthand with these groups to formulate ideas to bring to council chambers. While free Friday family movie nights this summer in Wilkes-Barre<ins>, thanks to George Brown and all of the wonderful who work with him,</ins> are a perfect step in the right direction, we need to hold ourselves accountable for the the future of all of our neighborhoods.</p><p>I continue to see promising growth in various areas<ins> of the county, especially the economic boom in the Hazleton region as well as the downtown revitalization in Pittston</ins>. With our higher education centers in Wilkes-Barre and Dallas, we are raising our own and inviting youth from outside areas to take hold in Luzerne County. Let us give them the resources they need to make Luzerne County the perfect home after graduation. <ins>There are many townships and boroughs to reside in, and we need to utilize them to attract growth and provide a place to raise families.</ins></p><p><ins>Now living in Newport Township,</ins> I also would like to applaud the Newport Township Community Organization for the cleanup projects they initiate as well as the food bank operations they help provide. Acts such as these are the grassroots efforts our county needs to beautify itself and make it the place to live and raise families in. <ins>People helping people goes above all.</ins></p><p>I would like to thank all of those who volunteer for their efforts and hope to continue promoting these efforts should you elect me in November.</p><p>Gregory S.
