Their view: Mainstream media misinterpret Carson’s poverty comments

Two apprehended after vehicle pursuit in Lackawanna, Luzerne counties

<p>Memorial Day 2017 was as it probably should be weather wise &#8212; rainy, grey skies that were shedding a tear or two for those who gave their lives in defense of our country.</p><p>As the weather cleared, I decided to take a walk around our little community of Old Boston.</p><p>As I walked, I became more depressed than the weather. I started to count the flags that used to be flown on these national holidays. Some homes had 3-inch-by-5-inch flags stuck in door wreathes, a few (very few) others had little larger flags stuck in the ground and only a hand full flew an American flag.</p><p>One house had a tattered flag flying from their shed and an NFL football team flag flying from a beautiful flag pole on the front lawn.</p><p>A few days before, on Saturday, I was driving on Route 315. Does anyone want to take a guess at the number of businesses that fly the flag? Maybe it&#8217;s because they are trying to sell all of those imported items that they have forgotten about our country and those who died for their freedom.</p><p>I am only one, but I have decided that I will not buy from any store or business that does not display an American flag.
