<p>WILLIAMSPORT &#8212; The Community Arts Center has canceled an upcoming show with comedian Kathy Griffin that was set for Nov. 1.</p><p>The Times Leader&#8217;s news-gathering partner at <a href="http://fox56.com/" target="_blank">Fox56 TV</a> found out what people think about the theater&#8217;s decision.</p><p>Two directors at the Community Arts Center said they&#8217;ve been getting hundreds of e-mails, voice mails and Facebook messages since the photo of Griffin holding an object meant to look like the severed head of President Donald Trump came out Tuesday, and CNN fired Griffin on Wednesday.</p><p>The center booked the Griffin show about eight months ago, but decided for safety concerns, and to provide a &#8220;safe environment for patrons,&#8221; that this show had to go.</p><p>The center wants to bring comedy to town, but the e-mails and phone calls about Griffin had grown progressively threatening, according to Managing Director Sharon Mack and Operations Director Dave Whitnack.</p><p>The theater has about 2,200 seats. For November, the only show listed on its <a href="http://www.caclive.com/" target="_blank">website</a> schedule is a jazz octet.</p><p>Some residents say they they were disgusted by the Griffin photo.</p><p>&#8220;It grossed me out, so I just clicked out of it real quick,&#8221; said resident Brittany Krebs.</p><p>&#8220;People have a right to freedom of speech, but I think that what she did, regardless of what your politics is, whether you&#8217;re Republican or Democrat, crosses the line of civility,&#8221; said resident Jason Fitzgerald.</p><p>&#8220;I think it&#8217;s a good idea. She&#8217;s a jerk,&#8221; resident Mary Troisi said.</p><p>While many people Fox56 spoke with are upset by the picture and don&#8217;t want Griffin here, some say she should get another chance.</p><p>&#8220;Why cancel? Look at Trump. Look at all the things that he&#8217;s said and done, and she&#8217;s a comedian,&#8221; said Bernard.</p><p>&#8220;I love Kathy Griffin. She&#8217;s so funny. I don&#8217;t think that we get that many opportunities out here to get a lot of people that are of different variety,&#8221; said resident Regina Dickel.</p><p>The Community Arts Center said that before deciding on Thursday to cancel, it called other venues to find out what they were doing.</p><p>Several shows from Staten Island to New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada and California also have been canceled, and Griffin said she thinks her career is over.</p><p>&#8220;To have somebody hold up a bloody, mutilated head and display that in a laughing manner. I&#8217;ve never really thought that she was particularly talented in the first place,&#8221; Fitzgerald said.</p><p>&#8220;That was definitely wrong. It was definitely wrong. It was cruel and she asked for forgiveness. Everybody deserves forgiveness,&#8221; Bernard said.</p><style>
