<p>A one-hour special that was planned to debut later this year has developed into a new Spike series starring a local artist.</p><p>Shavertown resident and reigning &#8220;Ink Master&#8221; champion Ryan Ashley Malarkey will be featured in a 10-episode season of &#8220;Ink Master: Angels,&#8221; which will air in the fall of 2017 following the conclusion of <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/features/661748/plains-twp-shop-owner-derek-zielinski-competes-on-new-ink-master-season" target="_blank">season nine</a> of &#8220;Ink Master,&#8221; which premieres Tuesday.</p><p>Malarkey will star alongside three other top female competitors from season eight &#8212; Kelly Doty, Nikki Simpson and Gia Rose &#8212; as they challenge talented tattoo artists from throughout the country. The new talent crop will vie for a spot of season 10 of &#8220;Ink Master.&#8221;</p><p>The announcement comes today, expanding on a March release that promoted a single, one-hour special of the same name and concept.</p><p>According to a press release from Spike: &#8220;As the &#8216;Ink Master&#8217; franchise continues to grow, we are thrilled to work with Ryan Ashley (Malarkey), Kelly Doty, Nikki Simpson and Gia Rose on &#8216;Ink Master: Angels.&#8217; The fan-favorite females of season eight will add a new voice to the franchise and help us discover the best artists around the country.&#8221;</p><style>
