<p>FORTY FORT &#8212; Borough officials have pulled the plug on the use of the community pool after a severe leak was detected after opening day last weekend, the mayor said.</p><p>During a council meeting this week, Mayor Andy Tuzinski said the pool would lose $500 a day due to the water loss. Over the course of the season, that would cost the borough $45,000 for extra water and chemicals.</p><p>&#8220;The borough is working hard to come up with pool renovations that would be within our awarded grant,&#8221; Councilwoman Amy Craig said on Facebook. &#8220;This is much harder to do with the price associated with everything.&#8221;</p><p>&#8220;I&#8217;m heartbroken,&#8221; Tuzinski added.</p><p>The mayor said the Department of Public Works has been looking to isolate the leak, but it has not been able to thus far. There will be a company coming in later in the week to help find the problem.</p><p>&#8220;We were going to have a major overhaul this fall as well,&#8221; Tuzinski said. The borough received a $200,000 grant for the pool that requires some matching borough funds.</p><p>Memberships to the pool are in the process of being refunded, said the mayor.</p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s such a shame,&#8221; he said, noting the 80-year-old pool was part of a Works Progress Administration project in 1935. &#8220;Forty Fort&#8217;s initial contribution to the pool was $14,000.&#8221;</p><p>The community has begun to raise money to help the borough fix the pool.</p><p>It has had an<a href="https://www.gofundme.com/zwwtda2" target="_blank"> active GoFundMe </a>account since June 2015. Just since the announcement of the pool&#8217;s closure, individuals have raised over $1,200.</p><p>Craig said the snack bar at the borough&#8217;s Wyoming Avenue park will still open for the summer beginning June 16.</p><p>&#8220;When visiting our park, you will be able to purchase drinks, snacks, hot dogs, pizza, slushies, candy and ice cream,&#8221; Craig wrote.</p><style>
