<p>HAZLETON &#8212; A city man is facing aggravated assault charges after police said he opened fired on a vehicle Saturday afternoon, wounding two.</p><p>According to a police report:</p><p>Cristian Carrion-Ruiz, 22, is facing three counts of aggravated assault and three counts of attempted aggravated assault after police say he shot at a car in the area of the 300 block of East Diamond Avenue around 2:15 p.m.</p><p>Three passengers were in the vehicle, all 19-year-old males. One male sustained a single bullet wound to the &#8220;neck and facial area,&#8221; and a second was grazed in the leg. The third was not wounded.</p><p>Police initially responded to Lehigh Valley Hospital for the gunshot victim. Investigation led them to the scene of the incident. Hazleton police Chief Jerry Speziale issued a BOLO &#8212; &#8220;be on the lookout&#8221; &#8212; for Carrion-Ruiz to all area police at around 8 p.m.</p><p>Speziale activated the Hazleton Police Department Special Operations Group and had 701 E. Diamond Street surrounded and blocked from traffic in both directions of East Diamond Avenue. Police then evacuated the residents and children from the location that were not involved and notified area residents close to the location to stay in their home for safety.</p><p>Officers then lit up the home with lighting and used a public address system to call out Carrion-Ruiz from the residence. After several calls, Carrion-Ruiz emerged from the location and was arrested and transported to Hazleton Police Headquarters for processing.</p><p>Carrion-Ruiz was arraigned Sunday morning before District Judge Rick Cronauer and confined to Luzerne County Correctional Facility in lieu of $250,000 cash bail.</p><p>A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 28.</p><p>Speziale lauded the work of police officers and the Luzerne County Communications Center for helping apprehend Carrion-Ruiz.</p><p>&#8220;The tireless efforts by the men and women of Hazleton&#8217;s Finest are indicative of making a safer Hazleton,&#8221; he said.</p><p>&#8220;The Luzerne County Communications Center was instrumental in capturing this individual and did a remarkable job.&#8221;</p><style>
