Hazleton woman charged with making false statements in firearm purchases

<p>SUGARLOAF TWP. &#8212; An 84-year-old logger was killed Monday when part of a tree he was cutting fell on top of him.</p><p>Sugarloaf Township Fire Chief Duane Hildebrand said crews were dispatched at 12:05 p.m. for a report of a tree on top of a man in the area of Cedar Head Road.</p><p>The Associated Press identified the victim as William Burger, 84.</p><p>When crews reached him, he was already dead, Hildebrand noted.</p><p>He said crews had to access the scene via a logging trail. Mud was as deep as 8 inches in some spots, which made the trek to the remote area treacherous.</p><p>&#8220;It was very hard to reach,&#8221; said the chief.</p><p>Hildebrand said Burger was working with his son when the tree split and part of it fell on him.</p><p>Local media reports described Burger as an experienced logger.</p><style>
