JACKSON TWP. &#8212; A recent search of State Correctional Institution yielded nuisance contraband, according to spokesperson Erik Sowga Friday.SCI Dallas, located off Follies Road, was under a three-day lockdown for a random facility search for contraband that started Monday.Increased law enforcement activity on the prison grounds combined with the visitors room closure on Wednesday raised concern in the rural community spurring a resident&#8217;s email to the Dallas Post and Times Leader.Sowga said the random search is common to ensure the safety of inmates and staff.&#8220;There is no set schedule for a search,&#8221; he said. &#8220;It occurs when the administration decides it is time to have one.&#8221;A thorough search of the entire SCI Dallas complex includes over 2,000 inmates and can take three days to complete, he said.Sowga said the prison is not required to inform Jackson Township administration when a search is being conducted.<div class="metaInfo"><bylineMeta>By Eileen Godinegodin@www.timesleader.com</bylineMeta></div><div class="metaInfo"><shirttailMeta>Reach Eileen Godin at 570-991-6387 or on Twitter @TLNews</shirttailMeta></div>
