<p>Clint Frazier is playing the best baseball of his career. Literally.</p><p>While 16 games and 61 at-bats is a rather small sample size, Frazier&#8217;s .295 batting average is the second-highest of his career, only behind when he batted .297 in rookie ball with the Arizona League Indians in 2014. In fact, he&#8217;s a .272 career hitter in the minors and has never hit higher than .256 in Triple-A, which was his batting average with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders before he was promoted on July 1.</p><p>The 22-year-old outfielder is playing so well that he&#8217;s overtaken veteran Jacoby Ellsbury in the New York Yankees&#8217; outfield depth chart. Paired with his .295 average, 11 of Frazier&#8217;s 18 hits have gone for extra-bases and has scored seven times and collected 18 RBI.</p><p>When asked about Frazier&#8217;s big-league success this past weekend, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders manager Al Pedrique couldn&#8217;t help but say he was a little surprised. In the 99 games Frazier played with the RailRiders, he posted just a .248 batting average.</p><p>But Pedrique did see improvement before his call-up.</p><p>&#8220;It surprises me because down here he was getting better at making adjustments day in and day out, making adjustments every pitch, every at-bat,&#8221; Pedrique said. &#8220;I&#8217;m glad that he took that to the Major League level and he&#8217;s having success right now.&#8221;</p><p>The impact RailRiders hitting coach P.J. Pilittere has made on Frazier&#8217;s play should be noted.</p><p>Aside from helping reconstruct his swing this year, he&#8217;s provided advice for the mental side of the game, too. Frazier said earlier this season that Pilittere&#8217;s &#8220;really helped me build a firm foundation from the ground up&#8221; and had him starting his approach earlier so he can see the ball come out of the pitcher&#8217;s hand better.</p><p>&#8220;That&#8217;s one thing P.J. talked to him about, a lot about the hitting part is you have to stay focused,&#8221; Pedrique said. &#8220;You have to be able to adjust according to what they&#8217;re trying to do to you or how they&#8217;re trying to get you out and that&#8217;s what it seems like he&#8217;s doing a good job up there. We&#8217;re very happy for all of those kids who are getting a chance to play and they&#8217;re playing well.&#8221;</p><p>However, even with his hot play, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman told The New York Post on Friday that the plan is to still &#8220;send Frazier out&#8221; to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre when Aaron Hicks returns from the disabled list. However, Hicks hasn&#8217;t played since June 25 due to an oblique injury and is still two to three weeks away.</p><p>So for now, it&#8217;s Frazier&#8217;s job. As long as he continues to hit.</p><p>&#8220;Clint is playing well and I will keep using him,&#8221; Yankees manager Joe Girardi said, via The New York Post. &#8220;He has really played well. I think he has played well offensively, he has ran the bases well and played well defensively.&#8217;&#8217;</p><style>
