<p>BEAR CREEK TWP. &#8212; Concerns about faulty sewage-disposal systems and leftover property from a defunct ambulance company were the main concerns addressed by township supervisors this week.</p><p>The board heard from residents of Forest Park, who talked about sewage being discharged onto their properties from a neighbor&#8217;s system. The discharge results in muddy areas that have an oily sheen and bad smell. One man said his children have to wear boots to play in their own yard because of the mess.</p><p>Supervisors acknowledged there are a number of Forest Park lots with sewage issues. A plan proposed by the Department of Environmental Protection to fix the problem would require residents to pay at least $5,000 per household to hook up to a public sewage system plus fees in excess of $170 a month for sewage disposal. The township has rejected this plan as too costly.</p><p>Supervisors explained a multi-step process to resolve the situation, and it was noted the sewage enforcement officer has been to the property in question and is scheduled to visit the area again this week.</p><p>Residents also had questions about the Bear Creek/Buck Township Ambulance Company, which was dissolved some time ago after struggling with declining participation and internal issues. Supervisors were asked about the company&#8217;s remaining assets, many of which were purchased with the assistance of the township.</p><p>Some residents also wanted to know if supervisors ever considered investigating the company&#8217;s finances before its demise. Supervisors noted they do not have the authority to investigate a separate non-profit such as the ambulance company. The board did vote to donate all remaining ambulance property stored in the township garage to the township fire department. They said the ambulance company was notified some time ago it had 30 days to remove everything.</p><p>In other business:</p><p>&#8226; The board authorized the replacement of two &#8220;No Truck&#8221; signs on Oak Ridge, noting it is the only road in that area off Route 115 without such a sign and signs used to be posted there.</p><p>&#8226; Stormwater management and paving work on Old East End Boulevard is temporarily on hold until PPL is finished moving heavy equipment in the area. This is being done so trucks do not damage the fresh pavement. Supervisor Jim Smith is hoping the stormwater work can be done in September and the paving completed in the first two weeks of October.</p><style>
