Foster Grandparents honored for years of service

LUZERNE COUNTY &#8212; The Foster Grandparent Program is currently in need of recruiting several new Foster Grandparents.Since 1965, Foster Grandparents have made a commitment to country and community through volunteer service, using a lifetime of skills and experiences. Today, more than 25,000 volunteers age 55+ are serving through the Foster Grandparent Program.After their first year of service, Foster Grandparent volunteers report improvements in their health, physical capacity, anxiety, loneliness and social isolation, and life satisfaction.Foster Grandparents are those individuals age 55 or older, who meet income eligibility criteria and possess a desire to work with at-risk children.
