Medical marijuana dispensary gets Wilkes-Barre zoning approval

Our view: Philharmonic is certainly worth saving

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A woman was struck by a vehicle crossing River Street at the intersection with West Northampton Street during rush-hour traffic Wednesday.</p><p>Authorities say the victim suffered a serious leg injury.</p><p>Emergency responders placed the woman onto a stretcher and loaded her into an ambulance about 5 p.m. The woman, who has not yet been identified by police, appeared to be in her 30s. She was dressed in exercise gear.</p><p>She could be heard repeatedly screaming: &#8220;Please God, help me.&#8221;</p><p>A witness said the woman ran into the intersection, crossing River Street while the light was green for traffic on River. Police, however, were unable to confirm that.</p><p>When the victim was struck, she went up and over the vehicle, landing in such a way that part of her body ended up under the vehicle and was run over, according to the witness. He added that he frequently sees the woman running in the area.</p><p>A black two-door sedan with damage to its windshield appeared to be the vehicle that struck the pedestrian.</p><p>Police said the victim was transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center to be treated for her leg injury. While conscious and speaking, police said she wasn&#8217;t making much sense.</p><style>
