Van plows into crowd in Barcelona; Police view it as terror

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A man who allegedly broke a toddler&#8217;s leg when he threw him onto a bed pleaded guilty Thursday to aggravated assault.</p><p>Damion C. Lourick, 43, of Marcy Court, Hanover Township, admitted he tossed his girlfriend&#8217;s 3-year-old son onto a bed and hit him twice on his behind after the child was <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/local/624157/man-charged-with-aggravated-assault-after-allegedly-breaking-boys-leg" target="_blank">up past his bed time in November</a>. Lourick told police he didn&#8217;t mean to hurt the boy.</p><p>Township police arrived at the residence after receiving a call for an unresponsive child and found the boy in the arms of his mother, Nicole Knickerbocker, who said she could hear a cracking noise coming from her son&#8217;s back.</p><p>Knickerbocker told police her other children were already in bed, but the victim was awake and running around, according to police. She asked Lourick to put the child to bed. A few minutes later, she heard the boy crying and went upstairs to find his leg swollen.</p><p>The child was taken by ambulance to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center then transported by helicopter to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville for further treatment.</p><p>Knickerbocker said she told Lourick to go get ice, but he never returned to the residence while police and medical personnel were there.</p><p>Police interviewed Lourick the next day. He admitted he didn&#8217;t want or mean to hurt the boy, but acknowledged throwing him onto the bed and striking him, according to police.</p><p>Luzerne County Judge Michael T. Vough accepted Lourick&#8217;s plea and set sentencing for Wednesday.</p><p>Lourick was ordered to have no contact with the victim.</p><style>
