<p>Two local schools will host private solar-eclipse events Monday:</p><p>&#8226; Wilkes University plans an eclipse viewing 2 to 3 p.m. in the Fenner Quadrangle.</p><p>The event is open to Wilkes students, faculty and staff who are interested in viewing the solar eclipse.</p><p>Brian Redmond, professor of environmental engineering, earth science and geology, will be on hand and will have one pair of eclipse binoculars and two Questar telescopes to view the eclipse.</p><p>Attendees must bring their own protective eyewear.</p><p>&#8226; Wyoming Seminary will host an eclipse watch party beginning at 1 p.m. for school faculty, staff, student leaders and athletes at the Upper School Back Campus on North Maple Avenue in Kingston.</p><p>All those who are present at the Upper School on Monday are invited to gather on the open field of the Back Campus to watch the partial solar eclipse. As many as 150 pairs of glasses, designed to protect the eyes while watching an eclipse, will be made available to anyone who wants to watch.</p><p>Per NASA guidelines, the only safe way to look directly at the uneclipsed or partially eclipsed sun is through special solar-filtered glasses or hand-held viewers. Eclipse glasses and viewers should meet the ISO 12312-2 international standard.</p><p>The eclipse is expected to begin around 1:15 p.m., reach its maximum display at 2:41 p.m., and end at about 4 p.m. The sun is expected to be about 75 percent covered in our area.</p><style>
