Crestwood spoils Pittston opener

<p>DALLAS TWP. &#8212; Dallas received a free home game and made the most of it Friday night.</p><p>On a night when Coughlin football alumni were honored on the road, it was one of those young guys from Dallas who made the most noise.</p><p>Sophomore running back Lenny Kelly rushed for 206 yards and four touchdowns as the Mountaineers pounded Coughlin 54-7 in the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 4A opener for both teams.</p><p>The game was moved from Wilkes-Barre Memorial Stadium due to structure concerns with the tunnel leading from the locker rooms to the field. So the former Coughlin player headed up to the Back Mountain instead for their reunion.</p><p>What they saw was Dallas score the most points against a Coughlin team in 34 meetings.</p><p>&#8220;What ever could go wrong went wrong,&#8221; Coughlin coach Ciro Cinti said. &#8220;All three facets of the game, they dominated. We didn&#8217;t answer the call when we had to.&#8221;</p><p>Kelly scored on a 30-yard run midway through the second quarter to go along with his 32 interception return for a touchdown in the first quarter. He added TD runs of 38, 13 and 30 yards in the third as the Mountaineers took a 45-7 lead into the final 12 minutes.</p><p>The four rushing touchdowns were a career high for Kelly. The 206 yards weren&#8217;t. He had 211 against Hazleton Area in Week 9 of 2016. But those yards took 36 rushes. He needed only 18 on Friday night.</p><p>&#8220;It all started with the line and the fullback coming out,&#8221; Kelly said. &#8220;We had a little bit of trouble with the backer and the front, but then we got it figured out and took it from there.&#8221;</p><p>The defense was equally dominant.</p><p>Coughlin had a pair of 1,000-yard rushers back in running back Jake Cole and quarterback Vincent Todd. Both found running room scant.</p><p>Cole finished with 10 carries for 37 yards, with 22 of them coming on one rush. Todd had 31 yards on 11 carries and was constantly harassed in the backfield. The duo combined for 197 yards in last year&#8217;s game won by Coughlin 20-7.</p><p>&#8220;The kids have done a great job in the weight room,&#8221; Dallas coach Rich Mannello said. &#8220;I think you&#8217;re seeing an overall difference in team speed. That (Todd), he something over there. He&#8217;s tough. And that back, you saw what he did on that one play down there. Those are two tough kids and to contain them is a testament to the speed we have on defense.&#8221;</p><p>Penalties also plagued the Crusaders. Dallas rolls past Coughlin
