<p>HAZLETON &#8212; A Hazleton woman allegedly abandoned her 14-month-old baby in front of a bar early Saturday morning and was among those arrested during a saturation patrol, according to city police.</p><p>Police said they stopped a silver Dodge Caravan with an expired registration at the intersection of North Locust and West Broad streets and observed a female holding an unrestrained infant.</p><p>The woman told police that the child, whose mother she didn&#8217;t know, had been left unattended in front of the Second Base Bar at 131 W. Broad St. for about 25 minutes.</p><p>An employee of the bar arrived on the scene and said the mother of the child had &#8220;showed up&#8221; at the bar and left the baby unattended.</p><p>The baby was medically evaluated and Luzerne County Children and Youth Services was apprised of the situation, police said.</p><p>The baby was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton, accompanied by city police officers. The baby&#8217;s mother, Destiny Davila, also arrived at the hospital.</p><p>According to police, Davila had bloodshot, glassy eyes and an odor of alcohol. She was taken into custody and transported to City Hall, where police said she admitted to having been drinking.</p><p>According to police, Davila said a patron of the bar had offered to watch the baby and she had not immediately realized her child was missing.</p><p>She was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, underage drinking and public drunkenness and was transported to Luzerne County Correctional Facility.</p><p>&#8220;The appalling situation &#8230; is a stark reminder to mothers in desperate situations that there is always a better choice for their baby,&#8221; Hazleton Police Chief Jerry Speziale said in a news release. &#8220;Sadly, this is the first newborn abandonment of 2017 and, thankfully, the baby was found unharmed by alert officers.&#8221;</p><p>Davion Murray, 29, was also taken into custody at a lounge at 596 Alter St. during the patrol. Murray was charged with drunk and disorderly conduct, after police said he failed to cooperate with them.</p><p>Additionally, an underage juvenile was charged with possession of marijuana, crack cocaine and methamphetamine.</p><p>Six underage individuals were also cited at the establishment and it was closed by police.</p><p>Also during the patrol, Yasser Cruz was taken into custody at Wyoming and Maple streets on an arrest warrant.</p><p>Police said marked and unmarked police units, uniformed and plain-clothes law enforcement officers took part in the detail.</p><p>According to police two vehicles were towed, eight traffic citations and three non-traffic citations were issued.</p><style>
