<p>KINGSTON &#8212; A ceremonial groundbreaking Wednesday started the process of transforming an old car dealership into Geisinger&#8217;s new, &#8220;state-of-the-art&#8221; outpatient clinic.</p><p>The property at 560 Pierce St. in Kingston is the former home of Wyoming Valley Motors&#8217; Subaru and Kia dealerships, which have since <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/494353/site-work-underway-for-wyoming-valley-motors-move" target="_blank">moved </a>to Plains Township.</p><p>Geisinger officials say the clinic, expected to open next summer, will bring a better quality of care to West Side residents.</p><p>&#8220;The goal of the new Geisinger Kingston facility is to create a more caring, comfortable and convenient health care destination for our patients and their families,&#8221; said Kimberly Kovalick, Geisinger family medicine physician, in a press release.</p><p>Geisinger plans to sink $8.5 million into the new building, which will measure 20,800 square feet.</p><p>It will offer a wide range of services, including family medicine, urgent care, a pharmacy, medication treatment management, radiology and a laboratory. These services come as an addition to the primary care that is currently being offered by Geisinger&#8217;s Kingston clinic, now based on Wyoming Avenue.</p><p>&#8220;With the larger space, we can offer expanded services to ensure we&#8217;re offering the West Side of the Wyoming Valley the care they need and deserve,&#8221; Kovalick noted.</p><p>Geisinger says new employees will be hired to fill the positions that the expanded services require. The clinic will be staffed by 48 employees, according to the health system.</p><style>
