Their view: Seven reasons GOP couldn’t end Obamacare

<p>KINGSTON &#8212; The Luzerne Intermediate Unit Board of Directors voted Wednesday to hire John Mooney as assistant principal/supervisor at the Alternative Learning Center, a school for students too disruptive for regular classrooms. Mooney&#8217;s starting salary is $65,000.</p><p>The board also appointed Tashana McKinney as a part-time hall monitor at the ALC, plus hired three part-time school resource officers for the center at $25 per hour, not to exceed 29 hours: Brianne Dunn, Joseph Galeski and Kyle Shumosic.</p><p>The board also approved numerous contracts, including:</p><p>&#8226; Renewal of a lease at $800 per month with Joe Amato Ventures LP for space used by the METS Program from Sept. 1, 2017, to Aug. 31, 2018. Short for Mall Education Training Site, METS is designed to help special education students transition to employment by teaching hands-on job skills at the Gateway Shopping Center in Edwardsville.</p><p>&#8226; Renewal of a lease with Phillips Supply in Plymouth at $646 per month for warehouse space and space used by the Document Destruction Depot from Aug. 1, 2017, to July 31, 2018. The Depot is another job transition program, where students run a document destruction business.</p><p>&#8226; An agreement for snow removal with Falzone&#8217;s Service Inc. for several properties, with the prices based on the amount of snow. At the administrative building in Kingston, it&#8217;s $135 for up to 4 inches, $165 for 4 to 8 inches, and $205 for 8 to 12 inches; at the ALC it&#8217;s $220, $255 and $295 for the same accumulation levels; at the Lyndwood Learning Center in Hanover Township it&#8217;s $175, $225 and $275. Salting is $150 at the administrative building and the ALC, and $175 at Lyndwood.</p><style>
