Drug ring leader sentenced to eight years in prison

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A homeless man who police said <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/local/639099/homeless-man-accused-of-string-of-robberies-heading-to-county-court" target="_blank">robbed </a>three local stores so he could support his heroin addiction pleaded guilty to all three robberies in court on Thursday.</p><p>Richard Alan Della Croce, 45, was charged with robbing two Wilkes-Barre convenience stores and a third in Kingston in February.</p><p>Della Croce pleaded guilty to all three robberies, and will be sentenced at 9 a.m. Nov. 7.</p><p>Police said Della Croce told them he robbed the stores &#8220;to not get sick.&#8221;</p><p>Della Croce began his spree at the Sunoco on Kidder Street in Wilkes-Barre on Feb. 11, where he threatened the cashier with a syringe, receiving $110.</p><p>On Feb. 12, Della Croce threatened an employee at the Convenience Corner on South Main Street in Wilkes-Barre with a large knife, getting $780 there.</p><p>Finally, on Feb. 17, police say he robbed the Pantry Quik on Wyoming Avenue in Kingston. He told the cashier &#8220;don&#8217;t be afraid, I&#8217;m sick&#8221; before taking $200, authorities report.</p><p>Della Croce admitted to all of the crimes upon his arrest, police say.</p><p>He remains jailed to await sentencing.</p><style>
