<p>WRIGHT TWP. &#8212; The Crestwood School Board acted this week to refinance a previous bond issue to the tune of $950,000 to fund what the board stated is a series of renovation projects.</p><p>While the board wasn&#8217;t specific in enumerating the projects, it signaled an intent to finance alterations, renovations, additions and the acquiring of equipment and services for existing district buildings.</p><p>The resolution, which passed on a 9-0 vote, also stated that the law firm of Stevens &amp; Lee, with offices in Kingston, has been hired as bond counsel and Financial S&amp;Lutions LLC of Reading has been retained as financial adviser.</p><p>Crestwood officials issued a bond in March 2017 for $4.5 million, which was also for renovations and equipment.</p><p>Meanwhile, the district is currently engaged in a renovation project at the high school auditorium, which Superintendent Joseph Gorham said is now expected to be completed prior to the board&#8217;s October meeting. In connection with Gorham&#8217;s comments, approval was also unanimous among the nine board members in approving a series of payments for the following invoices:</p><p>&#8226; $11,500 from Quad 3 engineers for preparing specifications for air conditioning installation in the auditorium;</p><p>&#8226; $14,873 from Trane US Inc. for the installation of air conditioning units in the auditorium;</p><p>&#8226; $5,400 from Entertainment Services Group Inc. for the re-installation of the auditorium&#8217;s sound system.</p><p>At same time, the board approved proposals by Frank Ciavarella Masonry and Rutkoski Fencing Inc. for exterior improvements at the secondary center. Ciavarella bid $16,300 for installing a concrete sidewalk and a parking pad adjacent to the high school baseball field. Rutkoski submitted a bid of $19,400 to remove a metal guardrail between the high school building and baseball fields and replace it with wood guardrail fencing.</p><p><strong>Senior honored</strong></p><p>In other business, the board:</p><p>&#8226; Recognized high school senior Andrea Shipman for having received a letter of commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Society for achievement in pre-college testing. Superintendent Gorham said Shipman was among the leaders nationally in testing encompassing SATs as well as math, science and language.</p><p>&#8226; Retained Jerry Greely, who is employed by the Pocono Mountain School District, as Crestwood&#8217;s part-time athletic director at an annual salary of $20,000.</p><p>&#8226; Approved tenure for teachers Sara Randle Nemshick and Tracey Sedorovich.</p><p>&#8226; Approved a series of coaching assignments for winter and fall sports to include Mark Atherton in boys varsity basketball at $7,036 per season and Ed Stepanski as girls varsity basketball coach at $7,036. Atherton&#8217;s assistants are James Lavan and Michael Boutanos; Stepanki&#8217;s are James Miner and Joe Stepanski.</p><p>&#8226; Tabled action on a proposal to appoint Raelene Macking as head teacher at the Fairview school.</p><style>
