I was going to write about how I was so, so wrong about Ben Roethlisberger this season, but then Odell Beckham Jr., Brandon Marshall and Charles Clay all got hurt.This is on top of David Johnson getting hurt in the season opener, too.This feels like &#8212; and for as long as I can remember &#8212; the worst season for injuries in recent history. While I admit I&#8217;m 25 and my first vivid NFL memory dates back to the Music City Miracle in 2000 &#8212; so I&#8217;m no historian by any means &#8212; but Johnson was a consensus top-two pick and OBJ was top five. Now they&#8217;re both done for the season. At least OBJ is.We&#8217;ve also seen rookie sensation Dalvin Cook land on the IR, Danny Woodhead not make it out of the season opener, both of the top wide receivers in this year&#8217;s draft class hardly leave a mark, and only Corey Davis get on the field. Also, the Chicago Bears lost both of their top wideouts before the season even started, Julian Edelman went down in the preseason, Jordan Matthews broke his thumb a couple weeks ago and Andrew Luck is still working his way back from shoulder injury.I could go on and on, but this is a newspaper after all, so space is limited.My point is that you have to be savvy on the waiver wire if you&#8217;re going to be successful this season. Make sure to keep up with the latest news and look for trends. Like maybe you want to trade Carlos Hyde or Frank Gore before they lose their jobs.Tweets of the WeekBrandon (@scubaguba345) asks: Would you trade Alvin Kamara for Tevin Coleman and Tyrell Williams, 14-team PPR league? I&#8217;m going to have to say no. I&#8217;m one of the people who, in most cases, would rather have the best player in the deal and not the multiple parts, unless my roster is shot and the move is necessary. Kamara is a blooming star and is about to get more touches with Adrian Peterson out of the picture. Tevin Coleman is a flex at best this season and Tyrell Williams has been a disappointment. Not to mention, Mike Williams is expected to be back this weekend.QUARTERBACKMust have: Marcus Mariota, Tennessee TitansNow, there&#8217;s still a strong chance Mariota doesn&#8217;t play this game because of a hamstring injury he&#8217;s been nursing. But if he does, this is could be a breakout game for him. Mariota was a consensus top-10 quarterback in the preseason, and he hasn&#8217;t shown that so far. Against an inferior Indianapolis Colts defense, he&#8217;s a must-start if he plays. Even if he&#8217;s out, Matt Cassel is a fine streamer. Remember, it&#8217;s a Monday night game, so roster Cassel (or Colts QB Jacoby Brissett) just in case.Pass: Alex Smith, Kansas City ChiefsWhile I understand that Smith is having a career resurgence this season, this is going to be a big Kareem Hunt game. Pittsburgh is terrible against the run, but excellent against the pass.Worth a shot: Josh McCown, New York JetsWith questions in the running game this week, McCown&#8217;s going to be asked to air it out. This New England Patriots defense is terrible. McCown is a good streaming option with so many good quarterbacks on byes. In fact, I&#8217;m so confident that I&#8217;m starting him in a league this week.RUNNING BACKMust have: Jay Ajayi, Miami DolphinsAjayi has been a huge disappointment this season, and that&#8217;s why I shied away from him in every draft. However, if there&#8217;s a week to break out, it&#8217;s this one. The Atlanta Falcons rank 25th against the run &#8212; on ESPN &#8212; and his head coach, Adam Gase, has asked him to step up.Pass: Carlos Hyde, San Francisco 49ersI was originally on the Hyde bandwagon, but now I&#8217;m off. And running far, far away. San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan has said he&#8217;s going to ride with the hot hand going forward, which was the case last week when it wasn&#8217;t Hyde, but Matt Breida. If you have Hyde, trade him now or at the very least pick up Breida. He doesn&#8217;t have a good matchup this week either. Washington&#8217;s very good against the run.Worth a shot: Alvin Kamara, New Orleans SaintsAlvin! While he doesn&#8217;t have a very good matchup this week &#8212; the Lions rank 15th against the run &#8212; Kamara&#8217;s a PPR monster and will see an uptick in touches moving forward.WIDE RECEIVERMust have: Martavis Bryant, Pittsburgh SteelersBryant has been really quiet this season. But aside from Marcus Peters, who should shadow Antonio Brown this week, the Kansas City defense has some holes. All Bryant needs is one deep ball to be fantasy relevant.Pass: Roger Lewis, New York GiantsYou probably picked up Lewis once OBJ, Marshall and Sterling Shepard all went down last week, but don&#8217;t even think about starting him. The Giants aren&#8217;t going to score in Denver. Book it.TIGHT ENDMust have: Austin Seferian-Jenkins, New York JetsSeferian-Jenkins is a legitimate TE1 these days. With a great matchup in the Patriots, he could finish in the top five.Pass: Jared Cook, Oakland Raiders Cook has had some favorable matchups the past couple of weeks, but hasn&#8217;t done anything with them. I don&#8217;t expect him to buck that trend against a much better Los Angeles Chargers defense.Worth a shot: Ryan Griffin, Houston TexansEveryone has a day against the Browns, even someone like Griffin.<style>
