WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Coughlin answered Williamsport&#8217;s first touchdown Saturday night with a field goal.Then quarterback Vincent Todd followed with a perfectly placed pass to Salem Diop for a touchdown and a lead going into the second quarter.Then the Crusaders fell victim to something so many Williamsport opponents have witnessed. The Millionaires started scoring and couldn&#8217;t be stopped.When the onslaught stopped, Williamsport had scored seven consecutive touchdowns on the way to a 55-10 victory in a Wyoming Valley Conference interdivisional game.&#8220;The effort was absolutely horrible,&#8221; said Coughlin coach Nino Cinti, whose team fell to 4-4. &#8220;I mean, for game eight the offense was very disheartening. We had two touchdowns called back on procedure penalties that should not happen. Defense, we didn&#8217;t tackle worth a lick and that&#8217;s it.&#8220;That&#8217;s why you lose by 40-some points. End of story.&#8221;Williamsport (6-2) knows the feeling. Just last week, the Millionaires were routed by Delaware Valley 55-17 on their home turf. So they were looking for a strong effort and it happened after the first quarter, which ended with Coughlin up 10-7.&#8220;It was very important, very important,&#8221; Williamsport coach Chuck Crews said. &#8220;We started flat and the best team we&#8217;ve played all year put it to us. That&#8217;s certainly not a representation of what we want to be, so it was important for us to come out tonight and play some good, hard football.&#8221;Quarterback Joe Fagnano did that once again. The first-year starter hit on 19 of 26 passes for 282 yards and two touchdowns, moving him within 159 yards of a 2,000-yard passing season. He triggered the avalanche of points with a 7-yard TD run, giving the Millionaires a 13-10 lead at 10:23 of the second quarter.Williamsport never looked back, with a 20-yard touchdown pass to Marcus Simmons pushing the advantage to 20-10 at halftime. The play came shortly after Todd had a 61-yard TD run erased by a holding penalty. Williamsport defensive back Jonas Nicklaus had an interception on Coughlin&#8217;s next play.Coughlin did little offensively in the second half. The only bright spot was running back Jake Cole, who topped 100 yards rushing for a fifth time this season. He finished with 130 yards on 15 carries.Williamsport will be back in the area Friday, heading to Wyoming Area (3-5).
