<p>As the boys soccer season has progressed, Wyoming Seminary has developed quite the calling card.</p><p>The Blue Knights sport one of the best defenses in Division 2. They&#8217;ve allowed just 16 goals in 15 games this season.</p><p>And Tuesday night was no different. The Blue Knights defeated then-first-place Lake-Lehman 2-1, and the Black Knights&#8217; lone goal came on a penalty kick.</p><p>&#8220;I think we have a solid goalie and a solid back for that we are able to absorb a lot of pressure, and they work then right from the start in terms of offense, in terms of starting the play and the attack,&#8221; Wyoming Seminary head coach Rev. Charles Carrick said. &#8220;The defense &#8212; the back four and the goalie &#8212; the guys are playing as a team.&#8221;</p><p>Aside from strong goalie and defensive play, Carrick has been able to filter in &#8220;a lot of guys&#8221; on the defensive side.</p><p>The key for the Blue Knights has been that despite the different players Carrick has put in at any given moment, the chemistry between the group doesn&#8217;t dip. This allows him to keep his players fresh as often as possible.</p><p>With Eli Idec and Will Ziegler starting at center-back and Nikko Simons and Joonghun Colin Sung starting on the outside, players like Sant de los Rios, Cooper Wood and Trey Leo have seen time off the bench to spell the starters.</p><p>&#8220;I think the guys just work well together and work well as a team,&#8221; Carrick said. &#8220;On the defensive side, you can&#8217;t just have one star and you have to rely on each other and I think we continue to work on that.&#8221;</p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s just a testament to how hard we work at practice every day, day in and day out,&#8221; Wyoming Seminary junior goalie Ryan Anderson added. &#8220;Great leadership in the back line. We just work really hard.&#8221;</p><p>At the center of the team&#8217;s strong defensive play sits Anderson, who is in his second season as the Blue Knights&#8217; starting goalkeeper.</p><p>After finding success as a sophomore last season, helping guide Wyoming Seminary to a second-place finish in the District 2 Class 2A tournament, a spot in the district finals for a third straight season and appearance in the state tournament, Anderson entered the season with even more confidence and it has shown in his play.</p><p>&#8220;I got a couple inches taller so that always helps, but I just feel the game comes more easily to me this year,&#8221; said the goalie. &#8220;I&#8217;m not as nervous as I was last year and it&#8217;s just a lot more fun to play.&#8221;</p><p>&#8220;He&#8217;s talking a lot more than usual, and he really wants it. You can see,&#8221; Wyoming Seminary junior midfielder Edge Miller added on his goalie&#8217;s strong play. &#8220;It&#8217;s paying off.&#8221;</p><p>After starting the season 6-2, Wyoming Seminary ran off seven straight wins and took Holy Redeemer down for the second time this season on Thursday.</p><p>A win like Tuesday&#8217;s over Lake-Lehman, which avenged an early season loss to the Black Knights, has provided the Blue Knights with some confidence as the postseason approaches. It&#8217;s the type of win that could carry them into a fourth straight district final.</p><p>&#8220;We played really hard all the way to the end. We needed a game like this to build up some confidence to finish out the season and get ready for districts,&#8221; Anderson said after Tuesday&#8217;s win. &#8220;It builds a ton of confidence for us. We&#8217;re hoping that this builds a big push into districts and we&#8217;re hoping for a successful year.&#8221;</p><p>In Miller&#8217;s eyes, a win over a strong Black Knights team has just increased Wyoming Seminary&#8217;s hunger.</p><p>&#8220;Momentum-wise, I think it makes us want it more because we played really well tonight and we&#8217;re just looking forward to winning it,&#8221; the midfielder said.</p><p>The Blue Knights wrap up their regular season Tuesday at home against Meyers, which will be for the Division 2 title. Both teams are 13-2.</p><style>
