<p>WRIGHT TWP. &#8212; CornellCookson, a rolling door and grille manufacturer, is creating 40 new jobs.</p><p>The company hopes the positions will provide opportunities for families with child care challenges and college students in need of extra income.</p><p>Jessica Falatko, vice president of human resources, said the move is in response to an increasing demand for product and the company&#8217;s commitment to making the best use of its facilities.</p><p>&#8220;Many of our workers work Monday through Friday and spend weekends with their families,&#8221; she said. &#8220;We don&#8217;t want to take a Saturday away from them, when they might want to go and see their children&#8217;s football game or other activities.&#8221;</p><p>Falatko said the majority of those additional 40 jobs would require Friday, Saturday and Sunday shifts from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.</p><p>Falatko said company officials envisioned making it possible for parents to have two incomes, while minimizing day care expenses.</p><p>&#8220;Although the job is only 36 hours a week, it would be considered full time with full-time benefits,&#8221; she said. &#8220;We&#8217;re aware of the extra effort it takes to work a 12-hour shift.&#8221;</p><p>The position, termed &#8220;fourth shift,&#8221; has already been added to the company&#8217;s website.</p><p>Requirements include the ability to lift 50 pounds and good mechanical and technical aptitude. Prior work experience with sheet metal fabrication is preferred, according to the website.</p><p>The positions vary in skill level and include entry-level assembly, welding powder coating and machine operation.</p><p>Falatko emphasized the company&#8217;s commitment to both quality of product and success of its employees.</p><p>&#8220;Our new fourth shift is a testament to the impact our employee ideas have on our business,&#8221; said Andrew Cornell, CEO of CornellCookson, in a press release. &#8220;As a family-owned and operated business, we take pride in inviting our employees to play a key role in our success.
