NANTICOKE &#8212; On a chilly fall Friday night, the Nanticoke Trojans scored early and often in a dominating 57-14 victory over the visiting Holy Redeemer Royals.Nanticoke&#8217;s offensive starters only played the first half, yet still scored 50 points and successfully scored touchdowns on six of their seven offensive possessions before heading into the locker room.Fittingly, on Senior Night, senior standout tailback Dawson Hughes scored the night&#8217;s first points on just his team&#8217;s second offensive snap of the ball game.Just three minutes into the first stanza, Hughes broke his run to the outside down the side lines for a lightning quick 55-yard touchdown run to give his school an early 7-0 advantage. In his final regular-season home game for the Trojans, Hughes led his team in rushing with 108 yards on just eight carries.From there, Nanticoke continued their offensive prowess when sophomore signal-caller Colby Butczynski hooked up with his speedy wideout Darren Boseman for a 21-yard touchdown pass to give the Trojans an early 14-0 lead just five minutes into the opening quarter.To close out the first quarter with a big 21-0 advantage, junior Joe Ammons used a wicked combination of power and speed on his way to a 66-yard touchdown rush immediately after his teammate, John Shoemaker&#8217;s timely interception.Nanticoke&#8217;s overwhelming offense proved to be too much for Holy Redeemer once again as the Trojans had two short, powerful goal-line touchdown runs by senior John Guszak and sophomore Collin Kashatus to bookend the second quarter. Sophomore wide receiver Darren Boseman also chipped in with his second touchdown catch of the night on a 1-yard scoring pass from Butcynski.The Trojans defense would also get in on the fun with just 3:25 remaining before halftime when sophomore Keanu Ammons made some impressive moves on his way to a 79-yard interception return for a touchdown.Nanticoke&#8217;s final touchdown of the night came with just 2:14 remaining in regulation when Kris Seiwell sprinted into the end zone on a 8-yard scamper in his final home game to give the Trojans 57-14 lead.The lone bright spot for the struggling offense of Holy Redeemer came in the second half, when senior quarterback J.D. Turosky ran for two touchdown &#8212; seven and 52 yards, respectively &#8212; to prevent his Royals from being shutout.
