Kingston man arrested at WB’s Kistler school trying to pick up student

<p>NANTICOKE &#8212; A wide variety of homemade cookies in different colors, shapes, and sizes were carefully placed on a table at the 28th annual Luzerne County Community College craft show.</p><p>However, these cookies &#8212; scrumptious though they looked &#8212; were not for human consumption.</p><p>They were dog cookies that Melody Fuller baked in her two commercial ovens at home.</p><p>Fuller was one of nearly 150 vendors at Saturday&#8217;s craft show. Admission to the event was $2 per person and the proceeds are used for scholarships and funding for student programming at LCCC, said Bonnie Lauer, director of alumni relations.</p><p>Fuller, who has a background in culinary arts, has been selling her cookies at the show for six years and also owns Jagger&#8217;s Doggy Deli in Hazleton.</p><p>&#8220;I was making wedding cakes when I was 15, so this is easy for me,&#8221; she said.</p><p>The treats are 95 percent organic and have a 10-month shelf life. Fuller also owns a dozen dogs, has experience training dogs, and has studied dog nutrition as well. &#8220;If you feed your dog healthy, you&#8217;re going to have a lot less vet bills,&#8221; she said.</p><p>Vendors at the show must sell only handmade items. Some vendors are local as well as from other parts of Pennsylvania and some even travel from New Jersey and New York.</p><p>They offered everything from home-baked bread, jewelry and furniture to photography, soaps, and knickknacks.</p><p>Ken Drake, a vendor from Hellertown in the Lehigh Valley area, has been selling his hand-carved footstools and chests at the show for seven years.</p><p>He decided to start his woodworking business 15 years ago and derives much satisfaction from his craft.</p><p>&#8220;This is what I should have been doing my whole life,&#8221; Drake said.</p><p>He has made 7,000 chests over the course of his career &#8212; one of which was bought by a congressman whose identity Drake declined to reveal because the politician asked him to keep it to himself.</p><p>Drake asked the lawmaker where he was taking the chest. He told him: &#8220;Well, you&#8217;re going to be able to say you have one in the halls of Congress, because I&#8217;m taking it to my office in Washington.&#8221;</p><p>Hartt Lang, a first-time vendor, was selling jewelry that contained messages in Morse code. Lang&#8217;s bracelets and necklaces all have positive messages and mantras that are depicted by beads shaped as dots and dashes.</p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s kind of like secret, when you&#8217;re wearing it, you&#8217;re the only person who knows what it means,&#8221; she said.</p><style>

LCCC craft show draws big crowd, almost 150 vendors
