UGI urges residents to be aware of signs of carbon monoxide

<p>HAZLETON &#8212; The Hazleton police force will add to its responsibilities, according to a press release from state Sen. John Yudichak&#8217;s office.</p><p>Hazleton Mayor Jeff Cusat announced Monday that there has been a municipal agreement between the city and Banks Township for the Hazleton Police Department to provide police coverage to the township.</p><p>Hazleton will cover all of Banks Township, which is 2.2 square miles with a population of 1,250 people.</p><p>&#8220;When neighboring communities work together to help each other out, it doesn&#8217;t just benefit those communities, it benefits the whole region. We are pleased to help our neighbors in Banks Township out with police coverage and look forward to working with them in their community,&#8221; said Hazleton Mayor Jeff Cusat.</p><p>Banks Township Supervisor Joe Clark thanked the Pennsylvania State Police for a &#8220;tremendous job&#8221; covering the township in the past, but said the agreement allows Banks Township to have a &#8220;constant&#8221; police presence.</p><p>&#8220;The Banks Township supervisors are extremely grateful to Mayor Cusat and Chief (Jerry) Speziale for this unique opportunity. We have been trying to secure police coverage for many years,&#8221; Clark said.</p><p>&#8220;Hopefully, it will be a win-win situation for everyone.&#8221;</p><style>
